Inscribed Stele Base (BOĞAZKÖY 2)

The limestone block was found in 1907 during the construction of the excavation house along with another similar inscribed block (BOĞAZKÖY 1). The cavity on the top site indicates that it had served as a stele base. The short inscription on the front also indicates that the stele was dedicated by a palace official named Taprammi. He is probably the same palace official known from other documents to have served during the reign of Tudhaliya IV and thus it is dated to the second half of the 13th century BCE. The original stele is on display in the Istanbul Ancient Orient Museum, and Boğazkale Museum has a replica.
