Inscribed Fragments (BOĞAZKÖY 9, 10, 11)

Three fragments of grey-green granit with Luwian Hieroglyphic writing was excavated in 1958 (BOĞAZKÖY 9) and 1955 (BOĞAZKÖY 10 and 11). The former is about 30 cm high appear to be the right edge of an orthostat and has 5 relief style hiyeroglyph signs that form the beginning of a line. Interestingly the last three signs which may be read salumasa(?) are repeated in the second fragment. Their context remains unclear. Third one bears a fragmentary aedicula of the Hittite King Tudhaliya IV and a small relief of a male figure, perhaps also repsesenting the king. All three fragments have a 10 cm-high blank bar at the top. It is likely that they belong to a longer monumental inscription that decorated the palace. The fragments are in the inventory of the Anatolian Civilization Museum in Ankara.
