Inscribed blocks (BOĞAZKÖY 7)

Two blocks with partially carved Luwian hieroglyphs were found in 1954 during excavations at Büyükkale. Roughly cubic blocks are both about 0.6 m high and 0.75 m wide. They were believed to have been originally in the wall of the tower building of Büyükkale's southwest gate, facing the passageway. The intended but never completed inscription was probably about events associated with the Hittite king since one line starts with "Great King." One of the blocks is in the Boğazkale Museum, while the other might be in Ankara.
