Lion Hunt Orthostat
The orthostat shows a lion hunt scene with a Hieroglyphic Luwian inscription. It was found in 1894 by a peasant at Arslantepe. Hawkins reads the inscription as: "These shootings (are) of Halpasulupi, grandson of Tara(?) the Hero, the lord of the city Malizi, son of Wasu(?)-runtiya(?), the King(?)." The grandfather of the author, Tara, is also the author of Izgın stele. Halpasulupi's name also appears on one of the gateway lions at Arslantepe. The limestone relief is approximately dated to the 11th-10th century BCE. Currently in the Anatolian Civilizations Museum, Ankara.
