Inscribed Stele

The basalt stele with a relief on the front face and a Hieroglyphic Luwian inscription on the back and right sides was found in the vicinity of the Great Staircase. The preserved piece is about 0.5 meters high and 0.3 meters wide. The inscription may have continued on the completely damaged left side too. The inscription is about a dedication to the Storm-God by a person named Azatiwara, who has some association with King Kamani. It is dated to the mid-8th century BCE or later and currently in the inventory of the Anatolian Civilizations Museum in Ankara.
