HOME - AIN DARA Türkçe Inscribed Stele Fragment The top right corner of an inscribed basalt stele was found in 1985 opposite the east corner of the temple, just above the floor of the antecella. It is about 11 cm long and 8.5 cm wide. Two hieroglyphic signs on it are read "God Sharruma" (DEUS.SARMA), one of the main deities of the Hittite pantheon. It has been dated to the earliest phase of the temple, thus to the 13th century BCE. The fragment is in the Aleppo Museum. |
