Veliisa Stele

This is the lower portion of a basalt stele about half a meter in both height and width. Only a single line of Hieroglyphic Luwian inscription is preserved. The exact discovery location is unknown, but reportedly it comes from near Veliisa village, which is about 15 km north of Niğde. The content of the preserved short line does not reveal much, but paleographical clues suggest a date in the late 8th century BCE. Currently in the Niğde Museum.
