Stele fragment

The Neo-Hittite-style basalt stele fragment displays a couple. The woman holds a cup extended towards the man and in her other hand possibly a spindle. The end of a staff is visible in the left hand of the man. The fragment is about 42 cm high and 61 cm wide. Stylistically, it is roughly dated to the 9th century BCE. There is no information about its find place. It has entered into the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1891.
