Goddess Kubaba

The figure probably represents the goddess Kubaba. The relief is on the narrow side of a corner orthostat that is located at the head of the orthostats of the procession way. The goddess is shown sitting on a chair that is situated over a lion. She is holding a pomegranate in one hand and possibly a mirror in the other. The basalt orthostat is about 0.95 meters in height. The head section of the orthostat is in the British Museum, and the complete orthostat with a replicated head section is on display in the Anatolian Civilizations Museum in Ankara.
