Funerary Stele

The rectangular basalt stele with a couple of lines of Hieroglyphic Luwian inscription identifies the owners as Ta(sa) and Sarpuwani, who were apparently interpreters. Stele is 107 cm high, 65 cm wide and 38 cm thick. It was found in 2010 as reused in a Roman period tomb in Yunus Höyük, which lies about 1.5 km to the northwest of Karkamış (see another find from Yunus Höyük). Currently in the Gaziantep Archaeology Museum.
