Havuzköy Gate Lion

This Late Hittite-style gate lion was found at the Kareseki district of Havuzköy in Sivas province. Scholarly, it was first reported by von der Osten in 1928, and in the following years, the statue was transported to Ankara. The basalt lion measures about 2 meters in length, 1.3 meters in height, and 0.75 meters in width. It is one of the northernmost finds of the Neo-Hittite period sculptures. Currently in the Anatolian Civilizations Museum in Ankara.
