Germiş

The funerary stele made of basalt stone was found in Germiş village (now Arıkdere) about 15 km west of Karkamış. It is about 1 meter high. A groove was carved in the middle of the relief in later ages for secondary purposes. The relief shows a male(?) figure with arms extended forward and a smaller male/child(?) figure below the arms. On a very similar funerary stele from Tell Ahmar, the larger figure shows a female. A date around 925-850 BCE has been suggested. The stele is on display in the Anatolian Civilizations Museum, Ankara.
