Elbistan

The basalt orthostat fragment, which shows a male figure and the back half of a sphinx, comes from Elbistan Höyük, just 8 km east of Zincirli. It was found during the Zincirli excavations of Felix von Luschan. It is in the Istanbul Archaeology Museum but not on display.
