Aydınkaya

The basalt Neo-Hittite style stele was found in 1995 during construction work in the Aydınkaya village of the Oğuzeli township of Gaziantep. It is 105 cm in height, 54 cm in width, and 35 cm in thickness. It depicts a Storm god figure holding a symbolic bolt of lightning in his left hand and probably a mace in his right hand. He wears a conical hat with horns. On account of stylistic features it has been dated to the 10th to 9th century BCE. The stele is on display in the Gaziantep Archaeology Museum.
