Aydınkaya

The basalt Neo-Hittite style stele was found in 1995 during construction work in the Aydınkaya village of the Oğuzeli township of Gaziantep . It is 105 cm in height, 54 cm in width and 35 cm in thickness. It depicts a Storm god figure holding a symbolic bolt of lightning in his left hand and probably a mace in his right hand. He wears a conical hat with horns. On account of stylistic features it has been dated to 10th to 9th centuries BCE. The stele is on display at Gaziantep Arhaeological Museum.
